Mehrad Khosrowshahi


Mehrad leads Confida's Strategy and Performance Reporting practices. He has spent many years helping companies in the service industries improve their operations. He has performed strategic enterprise evaluations including customer needs assessments, market analyses, the design of enterprise metrics and strategic-based costing systems.

Some examples from Mehrad's consulting experience include:

Real Estate: Developed a data warehouse and associated web-based decision support system aggregating strategic-level customer information for worldwide real estate company. Conducted market share and financial analysis for the company's service line and branch network.

Textiles: Designed and developed the organizational structure, operations and the IT infrastructure for a textile internet-based trading system. Partnered with one of the largest textile mills in the world to produce an on-line infrastructure to trade raw cotton. Served as acting CIO and VP of Operations.

Entertainment: Developed a dynamic financial model and assisted in fund-raising efforts for a startup entertainment venture.

Financial Services: Directed the Year 2000 Program Office, a two-year effort with 35 full-time persons, for one of the largest financial institutions in the Caribbean. Used structured project management and delivery techniques to ensure the renovation, validation and implementation of over 100 systems within the group's nine companies.

Pharmaceutical: Formulated strategic plans for two new product introductions by this company - one product for the wound care market and one for imminent introduction to the artificial skin market.

Electrical Utility: Managed the team that designed the processes for a new customer service organization, in response to pending industry deregulation, for one of the largest utilities in the world.

Relocation Services: Led the customer needs assessment effort for a $1.2B real-estate services company resulting in a new strategy and operational model with the goal of increasing revenues from new products and market segments dramatically over 3 years.

Healthcare Insurance: Directed the consolidation of operations facilities of a $2B healthcare company following a large acquisition; the consolidation contributed over $2.5M in annual recurring savings.

Telecommunications: Developed a new strategy for the 10,000-person customer service organization of a top-tier telecommunications company - designed new processes, policies, systems and organizational changes in order to improve profitability by $150M.

Healthcare Insurance: Led an organizational redesign project to improve service delivery and to reduce administrative costs for a major health insurer. Used structured analysis to identify process improvements worth $5M annually while redesigning company-wide performance metrics.

Retirement Services: Developed account-based profitability model identifying profitable markets and customers for a major 401(k) provider - developed plan to increase contribution margin by 50%.

Before joining Confida, Mehrad spent five years with Symmetrix, a management consulting firm serving Fortune 500 companies. At Symmetrix, Mehrad was instrumental in advancing thinking in strategic-based customer modeling and structured data collection and analysis methodologies. Before Symmetrix, he worked for the Chemical Division of DuPont (the White Pigments Group) conducting strategic and project feasibility analyses.

Prior to that, Mehrad spent four years designing software for the personal computer market. At Esselte Letraset, he was in charge of new product development; at Manhattan Graphics, he was involved in developing software for the publishing and presentation markets. Mehrad has authored three award-winning software products for the Macintosh including ReadySetGoâ„¢.
Mehrad received his M.B.A. with high distinction from Columbia Business School after earning his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Brown University magna cum laude.
